Manipulate: Handle or control typically in a skillful manner; control or influence cleverly.

As I prepared to write about this topic, I believe it is likely we have all been manipulative at some point in our lives. Yes, I said it! However, as we mature, we should no longer desire to control anyone or influence them in a negative way.

Manipulation is a skill and or a craft that has been developed over time. What does one gain by manipulating someone? This week I have pondered this subject and I have ideas but I will not discuss them as much (today).

Manipulative people often have pleasant personalities, initially, but the more you get to know them their true personality starts to show. Manipulative people may talk negative about others or blame others for their own personal shortcomings or failures. Manipulative people take advantage of others and may use information shared with them in confidence against the one who shared it. Manipulative always give a reason (which is good to know why) for why they behaved a certain way, and normally it is not the truth.

Since I enjoy writing about healing/wholeness, lets identify reasons we allow ourselves to be manipulated.

  1. Do we really allow ourselves to be manipulated or do we enjoy playing the game...someone may think they are getting over but we already know what's up?

  2. Are we manipulative?

  3. Are we suffering from depression or are we used to this type of behavior therefore we think it is normal?

  4. What are we gaining by this type of behavior?

Over the next few weeks lets talk about, deal with it, and break free!
